I found this great website about Dietgirl! What might you ask is a “Dietgirl? well she is a transplanted Aussie lass that now resides in Scotland. I started to read about her story and was pleasantly surprised to find a great sense of humor as she dealt with weighty issues. Her name is Shauna Reid and her website is called The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl! Here is a picture of her book entitled, “The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl!

Shauna Reid's Dietgirl!

Shauna started out with Weight Watchers and gradually found what worked for her. I really think that is the key, so a person can stick with a new way of life. Please check out her About Dietgirl page and you will quickly see her witt and results from her pictures.

It has been insufferably hot in San Diego lately, with the temperatures peaking at about 107 the last couple of days. Diets and exercise programs are harder to keep up when you are just trying to cool off enough to get through the day… and exercise? forget about it… I’m lucky to muster enough willpower to do a medium walk. :(

Reading a website like Dietgirl! helps me keep a sense of humor about the big picture. I have to remember that the slowly (and I mean slowly in the heat) increased activity level will have rewards later. I only wish the small wading pool my wife and I dunk in (no air conditioner) to stay cool would burn some calories!

As for my progress… I’ve lost about 30 pounds since the beginning of the year. I am finding that I seem to lose weight in spurts… then I level (sea saw) a bit while my body gets used to the new weight. After a while I then redouble watching what I eat (like Dietgirl - I do my own thing that works for me) so I start losing again.

I’ve had a few setbacks like almost breaking my arm lifting a mattress for my step-daughter’s slumber party… I felt really stupid on that one… if only I had not tried to lift it too quick before I was ready (it was kind of awkward and not heavy at all). :)

The arm injury kept me from doing a bag workout with my kickboxing/boxing. I tried to jog a lot but only found my 230 pound frame exasperated my right knee.  I am back to walking but not too much in this heat!

Oh well… enough whining for one night… tomorrow is a new day and the weather report might be wrong! If I was native American… I would be doing a rain or at least a cloud dance to the moon tonight! Hang tough everyone… don’t dwell on yesterday but realize that tomorrow is a new day!
