I have been more active in the last year than the previous five years. I have jogged, walked, hiked, mountain bicycled, hit the bag and sparred. Boy let me tell you that the easiest workouts have been hiking and mountain biking. I think that any activity is easier if you are also getting enjoyment out of it. I like the challenge of finding a new trail and seeing what is at the end.

I will talk about ways to turn your workouts in to fun. I found this video about San Diego hikes but I’d bet that most places will have equally good hikes close to your home.

Well I have cleaned out the garage and finally got to have a kickboxing workout today! What you might be asking is a kickboxing workout? Well to start with the kickboxing bag I have is filled with water and moves around a bit as I workout. I try to  work different parts of my body as I am able to improve my striking ability and get an aerobic workout.

Getting the aerobic workout with kickboxing is really easy because all I have to do is increase the ratio of kicks to punches to raise my pulse. Here is a video of Catherine Costigan (found her you youtube) doing one of her workouts. Notice she is able to work in punches, kicks, knees and elbows as well as shadow kickboxing and some strength building exercises.

Weights and tread-mills take the fun out of exercise! But, one needs to exercise in some capacity to affect weight loss faster. Many folk will tell you that aerobic exercise can burn fat faster than lifting and have positive cardio-pulminary benefits. In this post I will speak about fun, exercise and injury prevention. Well lets face it, everyone is getting used to politicians lying to get votes but at least we can trust our weight-loss industry (lots of implied sarcasm)! Ok I am as sick as the next guy with one candidate running a cheap attack on the next - they all seem to do it. Soon I will not care as I will mail in my ballot.

 What is my point? Just when I thought the main players were starting to let people know that it takes actual work to lose weight, I found this article in an obvious attempt to perpetuate the spot reducing myth by innuendo! Many of us face the same dilemma - Finding ourselves fat and trying to lose the weight. I have been there and I am here again, but I am not disheartened because I know what got me to this point.  You see I am a stress eater. That means whenever anything is happening in my life I generally comfort myself with food (the one thing I can control).

If you have read my Free Diet Book, “Slimmer Zimmer,” you would realize that one way (if you are able to commit) one can lose the weight without the fad diets, is by walking! True one will have to watch the food higher in fat and sweets, but you can walk daily and take the weight off!
