Have you missed important family holidays because of your latest diet? If so you are missing out on much that makes life worth living! I have missed some holiday festivities during past diets and know how you feel. On the one had you feel the need to reconnect with family, friends, and sweethearts but on the other – you do not want to fall off the wagon again!
I took the night off to spend Valentines day with my sweetheart (yes my wonderful wife of of almost seven years!)! It was a cold – rainy night that was not very motivating for us but I had told my honey that I was barbecuing steaks for our dinner. I was hoping the rain would quit but I caught no such break. During the ensuing talk of what restaurant would be a nice plan B – my wife mentioned that she loved my cooking and would have rather dinned in! I told her that I would still cook steaks and dragged the gas burner to the front porch!

I gladly cooked steaks and mushrooms during a cold, rainy night for my Valentine!
I made a quick trip to the store and came back with NY steaks, fresh French bread, red wine, salad greens, chocolate, and other fixings. You may be wondering what diet I am on? I am on a diet that can have days or meals off for important occasions. My wife took a picture of me cooking our food.

My wife was very happy I was cooking her special dinner. I also picked up some celebratory wine glasses.
Why is it important to keep special occasions special? Because it makes us feel good as well as others around us… you know the people that help you in times of need. We should not totally change our way of doing things but rather find (speaking of diets and exercise here) methods we can mostly stick to so we actually reach our goals!
The meal I cooked (my wife helped with the fixings) cost about $50.00 and included the drinks and chocolate! We would not have enjoyed the food as much in a restaurant nor could we have got off so inexpensively (I cooked 24 oz NY steaks!). I put butter, sour cream and chives on the potatoes. I had generous helpings of steak, mushrooms and bread as well as salad. We toasted with our wine and ate chocolate until we were full.

Ahhh! A culinary delight that every sweetheart should enjoy!
Why did I categorize this as Health? I think it is very healthy while focused on a short-term goal to not lose sight of whole picture! Diet and exercise should allow you to lose weight and get healthy but you also need to keep up appearances and enjoy life! My wife and I try to never forget special occasions (I am a man and I am reforming)
