Diet Plateau? Change Something!

Anyone how has dieted for any time at all knows what a diet plateau is and how madding it can be. For the last two weeks I have been weighing in at about a three pound range! Many of you might be worried about this but I have been through this before as my “Free Diet Book Here!” states.

What can you do about this? I found a post here that talks about changing things up to surmount your plateau! Basically according to the diet-blog.com post, you will need to vary your calories, add strength training, modify your exercise routine, change your nutrients, and/or meal frequency.

Picture from here. This picture is how a person on a diet should pick foods to stay healthy.

  1. Calories – Change up how many you eat to fool your body (so it does not get used to a routine).
  2. Strength training – This increases the body’s ability to burn fat and increases metabolism.
  3. Change exercise – This will work different muscle groups and as in changing your caloric intake – fool your body as to your routine.
  4. Nutrition intake – Changing your protein to carbohydrates mix will also fool your body.
  5. Meal schedules – Varying your meal times and number of meals will fool your body.

The folks at Diet-Blog.com are giving good advice here. Why? Because if your body gets used to a routine – your body will try to stay where it is at. What? My body likes to  stay at a point (a set point if you will)? Yes… many times when I fell into a routine in the past, I would notice that my weight started to stay the same – even with lots of exercise!

Well now, I have started putting sparring (karate) into my exercise mix and will put more bag work and strength training into my workout’s as well! If you are watching my “Progress,” you will see this plateau surmounted soon! More on the mechanics of plateau’s later, but for now, I am going to go do some bag work!
