Insulin Sensitivity – Exercise Helps!

I found a report of a study in Science Daily here, that seems to tout the benefits of even one exercise session increased the body’s ability to burn (oxidize) fat! Whereas overeating tended to increase the body’s sensitivity to insulin (decreasing the ability to use fat). Here is a quick video talks about the role of insulin and another that shows how insulin might become ineffective.

This article (citing the study) states that even a little exercise helped the body’s ability to oxidize fat. I had a step-son that was a type one diabetic and used to see how hard it was to stay on track some days. One thing I like about him is he did end up keeping an active lifestyle into adulthood. The results of this study seem to point out (biased on this article) that grandma’s sage advice of the ages – that every little bit helps, is still true in this day and age!

Don’t get discouraged if you have some bad days and go walk around the block and get some exercise. It will do you some measurable good!
