Hi Diane! Yep the extenders sound like great motivation. I got tired of seeing rings on my T-shirts where my cup holder was. :)

Hey Steve - Not so sure about the food craving thing... I've been able to just power through the hunger to the point that I am in control. There are a lot of good diets out there so I think the trick is finding one that makes sense to you and go for it. Your method seems to be working great for you!

Hi Vered! I found some wisdom from you site that I use to keep me on track, something like, diets are boring but sticking to it really works.... dont' remember the exact quote but that has helped me muddle through!

I think portions are the primary problem, but I also think there is more to it. Foods are designed to make us want more. I truly believe this - meaning, certain ingredients cause us to be hungrier faster. Manufacturers and restaurants use these foods. Still, it does go back to portions, but I just think that may be oversimplifying it a bit.

Great post nonetheless. If more of us would put down the big gulp and extra-super-duper-fantastically super-sized meal we would be a whole lot better off. :-)

Yes, yes, yes! Obesity may be rampant, but portion control is stronger. As I lost my weight I relied on 3 things, fat percentage, portion control and exercise. It really did come down to choices. Yes the ads for fast food were tempting, but so was being able to buckle my seatbelt without an extender! Great post!
